Plate & Shell heat exchangers

Plate and shell heat exchangers are ideal for condensation and steam-heating duties. The fully welded plate pack ensures excellent resistance to aggressive media, as well as high pressure and high-temperature operating conditions. With a compact footprint and significantly lighter weight, they are an effective replacement for traditional shell-and-tube heat exchangers.

By combining the strengths of shell-and-tube and plate heat exchanger technologies, plate and shell heat exchangers retain the high pressure and temperature capabilities of the former while delivering the high thermal efficiency of the latter. As a "best of both worlds" solution, they offer exceptional performance across a wide range of applications — especially in vapor-condensation processes.

1.Very adaptable heat exchanger. An excellent choice for handling condensation duties. They are also perfect steam heaters of clean fluids, demineralized water, and clean thermal oils.

2.The heat exchanger is designed to be highly resistant to thermal shocks as well as thermal and pressure fatigue making it very well-suited for cyclic duties and other duties with sudden, large fluctuations in temperature.

3.Available in both bolted and fully welded designs. The fully welded types can handle higher temperatures and pressure levels than the bolted types, but cannot be opened for cleaning. This can instead be done with CIP (Cleaning in Place) systems.

Monitor operating conditions and key parameters regularly

Control fouling and blockage; keep heat-transfer surfaces clean

Inspect welds, sealing points, and connections for long-term integrity

Regularly monitor pressure, temperature, and flow rate to ensure stable operation. Abnormal fluctuations or reduced temperature difference/flow may indicate fouling or blockage requiring immediate attention.

Perform periodic chemical or circulation cleaning based on the medium to prevent fouling, sludge, crystallization, or corrosion deposits on the plates. Install filters when handling fluids containing particles.

Inspect plate welds, shell welds, and connection points for corrosion, cracks, or fatigue. For bolted designs, ensure proper bolt tightening; for fully welded types, pay special attention to corrosion effects on weld zones.
